Welcome to the Blacksmith Cottage
& Forge Bookbarn
Two unique experiences, one historic location in the heart of Bacchus Marsh.
Step back in time at the Blacksmith Cottage (circa 1850s) for a glimpse into the everyday life of a blacksmith and his family.
Alongside the cottage is the Blacksmith’s forge, which has been repurposed into a Bookbarn, home to a treasure trove of second-hand books for sale. This Community Enterprise is entirely volunteer-run.

The Blacksmith Cottage
The Blacksmith Cottage is the only publicly owned heritage site in Bacchus Marsh. Proudly holding a National Trust classification and listed on the National Estate, the site was home to working blacksmiths and their families for over 100 years.
Today, the Cottage is preserved by a dedicated team of volunteers and is regularly open to visitors
The Forge Bookbarn
Operating on the same historic grounds, the Bookbarn is a thriving community enterprise run entirely by volunteers. Come and find a bargain amongst a wide array of quality books, from modern bestsellers to hard-to-find vintage titles.
It is a great place to potter around and chat with friendly, book-loving locals. Donations of quality second-hand books are always appreciated.
